David Vandervoort has contributed to dozens of projects over his 30 years in animation, having worked his way up as a self-taught animator to become a commercial director, and then a story artist and animator on feature films, 5 of which ('ParaNorman', 'Boxtrolls', 'Kubo and the Two Strings', 'Missing Link', 'Klaus') have been nominated for Academy Awards. Despite 2D animation's alleged "demise", David has pivoted his experience as a hand-drawn animator, allowing him to contribute to wide range of mediums in every corner of the animation business, from indie shorts, to ad campaigns, to games, to critically acclaimed films. His gifts as a storyteller have led him to his current position as a storyboard artist for Netflix Feature Animation.
