David Vandervoort has contributed to dozens of projects over his 30 years in animation, having worked his way up from a self-taught animator to becoming a commercial director, and then a story artist, character designer and animator on feature films, 5 of which have been nominated for Academy Awards for Best Animated Feature ('ParaNorman', 'Boxtrolls', 'Kubo and the Two Strings', 'Missing Link', 'Klaus'). Despite coming of age at a time when hand-drawn animation was being devalued, David was able to pivot his skills as a 2D animator into design and storyboarding, allowing him to stay relevant in a changing industry. David continues to work on a wide range of projects from his home in Portland, Oregon.
